Improve HKSR’s Services through Virtual Project Management Office Workshop
To keep abreast with the times, the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (HKSR) recently organised the first-ever Virtual Project Management Office Workshop (VPMO – 1st PM/BA Forum) for our staff members. The workshop aimed to brush up on their project management and business analysis skills.
The workshop is not restricted to the traditional classroom setting, but rather focuses on the interaction among staff members. To this end, we introduced a segment of game-based experiential learning in the training to strengthen the communication among staff members. They were assigned different roles in the game and had to put themselves in others’ shoes when making decisions to improve their organisational capacity, co-ordination, leadership, solidarity as well as problem-solving skills. This training will enable our staff members to (1) assess and manage risks, and (2) enhance the organisational capacity through collaboration and understanding others’ needs and difficulties when it comes to project planning and management. To enhance the effectiveness of our projects, it is hoped that our staff members can integrate project management thinking into their work in the long run.
As HKSR believes that staff members are one of the valuable assets of the organisation, we arrange training regularly to prepare them for future advancement. Our social workers and staff members could apply the knowledge they acquired from this training to improve our services, allowing our service users, including people with disabilities or chronic illnesses and rehab patients, to enjoy better services from us.
