With deep sorrow we wish to inform you that Mr LEE Man-ban SBS, MBE, JP, Immediate Past President of The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (HKSR), passed away peacefully on 27 January 2017, surrounded by his family, leaving a shining record of leadership of, service and contribution to rehabilitation service in Hong Kong and beyond.
Mr. Lee began his leadership in HKSR since 1967, served as Chairman of HKSR from 1980 to 2010, and as President from 2011 to 2016. He championed and founded Rehabus service, medical rehabilitation, and long term care services.
For over half a century, he was a close ally of the late Professor Sir Harry S. Y. FANG; and together they had made significant impacts in disability and rehabilitation movements in Hong Kong, China, Asia and the Pacific Region. Mr. Lee served as Vice-President of RI and Chairman of RI Asia and the Pacific Regional Committee from 1988 to 1992, and organized the RI Asia and Pacific Regional Congress in Beijing in 1990, the first world event concerning disability in China. Mr. Lee received the Presidential Award in 2015 by RI for his significant and exemplary contributions to the global rehabilitation movement.
Mr Lee’s spirit will continue to strive and he will forever be remembered.
With deep condolence to Mrs LEE and the LEE’s Family at this difficult time.
