Efforts to Raise Frailty Prevention Awareness
As a participant of the Jockey Club Frailty Prevention Campaign, the Society’s Centre on Health and Wellness is helping the community-dwelling population fight against frailty by raising awareness of frailty prevention and advocating a healthy lifestyle. Through this campaign, the young-old can get ahold of changes of physical conditions and be mindful with early signs of frailty as soon as possible; whilst the elderly can age gracefully and slow down deterioration.
To consolidate the message of frailty prevention, our frailty prevention team reached out to the community and arranged promotion vehicle to visit the Kwun Tong District. People aged 50 or above participated in frailty questionnaire screening, handgrip strength and sitting rising tests as well as body mass index calculation onsite. Some of the participants were invited to participate in the “Frailty Prevention Workshop” to learn more about the healthy diet, sports and mental health relating to frailty prevention.
